Local* Great Backyard Bird Count Photos - February 13-16, 2009

* If you are taking photos in our region for the GBBC, send them also to this website (webmstr@doas.us), and we will post as many as we can. Include the text you would like to accompany the photos. Our region is Otsego and Delaware Counties and nearby parts of other counties in New York State.

Photos by John Davis, taken the afternoon of Feb 13th six miles NE of Cooperstown. "The birds in the branches could go in the category "group shot". The other three could go in the "behavior" section. (They were on my case as I filled up the feeders!)"

Photos by Lisa Gorn, taken Feb 13th near Morris. "Here is a Downy Woodpecker waiting for his turn at the suet, and a Blue Jay basking and preening in the sun. (Something seems to be wrong with my digiscoping technique, but I think the Blue Jay has good expressions.) These would be for the "behavior" category.

Photos by John Davis, taken Feb 16th six miles NE of Cooperstown. "Red-breasted Nuthatch photo taken with a mid-level Olympus camera from about 8 feet. (Red-breasted Nuthatches are characteristically very "tame", if not just carelessly preoccupied with eating!) It flew off before I could get really close."
